Chess Software I admit that I've just started to use chess software to analyze my games. I currently use a free software program GNU 5.0 run on Winboard. You can download this version for free by clicking Download. This version does not have the analasys capability or really the teaching capability of some of the other software on the market, but its free and has a over the board rating around 2200. If you are looking for a stronger learning tool for openings, middle game and end game knowledge I highly reccomend purchasing one of the ChessMaster 7000 or higher software versions. The software has in depth tutorial capabilities and is surprisingly affordable. If you are looking for the absolute strongest software tool then Fritz is definetly the way to go. In the few instances that I've had an opportunity to speak with National Masters, International Masters and Grand Masters I've asked what software tool they recommend?
