Chess Pieces - Pawns

The pawn can move one or two squares at the start of the game as shown below.  After the origonal move the pawn can move one sqare ahead or diagonally as explained below.



The pawn is the only piece that captures differently then how it regularly moves.  The pawn captures diagonally as seen in the before and after picture below.


This covers the basic moves of the pawn, we will cover en passant and pawn promotion in the advanced section.
