Chess Pieces - Queen

Example 1.  The queen is the most powerful piece on the board, the queen can move vertically, horizontally and diagonally.  Below is an example of all possible moves by a centralized queen.

Example 2.  Here's an example of how quickly the queen can deliver checkmate, called fools mate it's the shortest possible way to get mated.  The sequence to get to this point can be reached few ways but in case you want to play it out use e4 f6, d4 g5, Qh5#.

Here's an example of using the queen to fork your opponent, this is when you threaten two or more of your opponents pieces at the same time.  This can create pressure on your opponent due to the fact that they may not be able to answer your threat adequately.  In this example after white's queen captures on f7 black's queen moves to d4 giving mate within the next two moves unless white sacrafices the queen.
